Here's a page from my sketchbook. There's my sweet pup, Maggie, and one of the kids' stuffed animals. I don't remember whose eye it is, so if you recognize it, please let me know!
This is not actually from my personal sketch book. It's actually an art journal that I share with my baby sister. For her 15th Birthday, I gave her an almost-blank Moleskin journal. The only thing in it was a birthday drawing and a quick note letting her knowing that this was her gift: an art journal we would share, each adding a page or two of any kind of art we felt like, and then giving it back to the other for them to take a turn. We ended up passing it back and forth across states and even continents for over five years (and going) as we each added a touch of ourselves to it. It's been amazing. I've had two babies, she graduated high school, moved into a dorm, traveled across Europe, and together we've taken trips and vacations together - and all of it has been documented in the book.
We have photo collages, hand-drawn pictures, watercolor paintings, and doodle art and it is so fun to look through!
Anyways, after realizing she was coming to visit and I would have to pass it back to her, I knew that I needed to add something right away. I saw a calendar at a spa that inspired me and I've been thinking about it since. It influenced my design, and I'd love to give you a link to it, but I have no idea who it was by, what it was called, or where to find it.
Have you ever had a shared journal?
