The Magic of Art in Everyday Living

Live Life Creatively

"Do not be afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still."

Hello!

Welcome to This Enchanted Life - a lifestyle blog dedicated to sharing the journey of one  woman looking to find her style, develop her skills, and add a dash of creativity to every aspect of her life.   She invites you to do the same - after all, we create our own magic.

Meet Sonia...

I am completely at peace while I am creating something, whether it’s a doodle, a knitted blanket, or a story; I believe something handmade or personalized, in its imperfection, is (almost) always better than something bought; I believe everyone can fill their lives with beauty and that it’s the little things that count.

I believe that creating something beautiful should not be reserved only for fine artists.  I believe everyone can, and should, spice up their lives with passion and creativity.  I believe that I am not alone, and that many people have creative longings just waiting to bust out.

So, with all of those very strong and idealistic thoughts (perhaps even trite, I suppose, but that doesn’t make it any less true), I invite you to follow my adventures through my blog!  Here you'll find me creating a culture of quiet luxury and artistic living through projects, organizational and parenting adventures, travel, homeschool,  interior design, forays into fine art, and, anything else that catches my fancy along the way.  Hopefully, you'll find inspiration.

Drop by anytime.  Take a seat, pour a cup of coffee or tea, and read away.  I’m glad to have your company.

My Journey

Although I have been "creative" for my entire life, it wasn't until I was first married that I began to seriously consider honing my artistic skills.  I knew that the journey ahead of me was bound to be outrageously rocky and difficult.  When I first launched the artistic side of my creative life,  I lacked any natural talent and/or special training.  And so there I was, jumping in feet first, taking my first steps.  What I didn't realize was how long and windy the road would really be.  Along the way, so much has happened (including moving from one home into another and then back again, quitting drinking in solidarity with a few family members, and unexpectedly finding myself homeschooling two preschoolers - all unrelated events...).  Now, a few years later, I find myself still vulnerable, still exploring and learning.  And the cliché is right - the more I learn the less I know.  Yet, I'm having more and more fun and I don't worry too much about knowledge part!  So here I am, offering you a peek into my journey and perhaps to even join me.  If you come to enjoy it a just small fraction of how much I already am, I’ll be happy.

Happy reading and creating!
